Resource Review: "Little Image Bearers" Season 1, Now on DVD!

When my blogging friend, Abbey Phipps, announced that her husband, Caleb, was starting to write, direct, and produce a new children’s show on image bearing, I was so excited! Just this weekend, Owen and I enjoyed watching through each of the seven episodes from season 1 of the show with our kiddos. Anna and James both thoroughly enjoyed the show, one asking for “another one!” and the other saying, “I really like this!”.

To give you a better understanding of the background of the show, here is the official description:

Little Image-Bearers is a children’s show designed for children ages 2-10. Each episode includes a unique item to explore, a local visit relating to that item, a simple puppet pretend story, and a fun “try it yourself” project, all pointing towards a biblical concept discussed at the end.

The first season of Little Image-Bearers is seven episodes long, and covers topics including intrinsic value, self-worth, aiming for the mark that God has set before us, and more. Though the series is simple, it is designed to have a calming and peaceful effect on children while sharing the powerful truths of God’s Word.

Something Owen and I really loved about “Little Image Bearers” was that the way it is set up and how Caleb’s presentation throughout the show is very Mr. Rogers-esque. The feel of the show, the warmth, and the personable, conversational style all reminded us a bit of Mr. Rogers Neighborhood. The wholesome, whimsical nature of it was a delight in a culture where very few – if any!- children’s shows have this same feel anymore.

The musical score and cinematography during the intro of each episode is lovely and very well done. Each episode is informative, endearing, educational, and saturated in Biblical truth. Caleb has quite a way of making analogies that take deep, Biblical truth and forming it into something even children ages 2-10 will be able to understand and grasp. We highly recommend this fantastic new resource for families! It will be a great tool for you as you seek to instill God’s truths deep into your children’s hearts!
